Suddenly I decided to take my teenagers and jump to a 4,000km ride across Guatemala, Belice and the Yucatán Península. These are some snapshots of the first and a half day. A view of Río Dulce in Guatemala, some rocky formations besides the road through Petén, The Chetumal malecón and the next day on our way East to Palenque, we did a stop at the site of Becan.

Día De Los Santos

Un video realizado por el fotógrafo guatemalteco Francisco Sandoval donde se aprecia una de las tradiciones guatemaltecas del Día de Los Muertos y de Todos los Santos, que consiste en visitar los cementerios para rendir recuerdo a los fallecidos. En los pueblos de Sumpango y Santiago Sacatepequez, los pobladores además construyen enormes barriletes (cometas) que (si el viento lo permite) vuelan para alejar a los malos espiritus. Esta actividad se lleva a cabo el 1 de noviembre.
