As everything that is good comes to an end, after rode 4,000kms in 8 days we were a little tired but happy of our little adventure, New Year took us in Cancún and after that the site of Tulum and the Isla de Flores at Guatemala gave a nice touch to terminate our journey.

La Ruta Maya VI (Chichén Itzá)

After hopping quickly through Progreso and Mérida we went straight to Chichén Itzá, the famous site with its emblematic four sided pyramid El Castillo, Chichén is a site with Toltec influence but with a great Maya Puuc reminescense, a great site but a little simple to my taste. Due to the hordes of people you can't "touch" the structures, just like there were in a postcard, just to watch. The first time I was there was in 1987 and the feeling was completly different.

La Ruta Maya V (Uxmal)

One of the greatest sites in the Yucatán península, Uxmal has excellent details in its facades, stairways and palaces, you can stay there for hours just thinking how could be life there some 1,000 years before. By far -in my opinion- a site more complex and beautiful than Chichén Itzá.

La Ruta Maya IV (Edzná)

Edzná is a Maya site located in the Puuc zone, about 55km East from the city of Campeche, many Guatemalan refugees worked at this place helping to restore the ancient esplendor of the city. We were there almost alone, the feeling when you are in a site like this without crowds of tourist is very beautiful and peaceful, you can take your time to think about these civilizations without worries.
