We are leaving 2009 to enter into 2010, new opportunities, changes, falls, stand ups, everything may come, we just have to be in peace with ourselves and with everybody out there. I hope you have a very Happy New Year!
My best try is with medium roast coffee, darker roasts make too strong coffee for my taste with lack of complexities. This system delivers very poor froth but a round nice body aromatic cup.
Sometimes we think in share only in certain times, I believe that sharing is something that we have to build in our inner self to become part of our own nature, and the best thing we have to offer always is LOVE.
We have designed a new bag for this Holiday Season (available only in Guatemala) made from recycled kraft paper. As our coffee, we design every year different stuff to be part of our corporate identity.
The Dream Of The Blue Turtles was inspirational to acquire this drum set, sometimes you need an excuse to bias your election to certain things and this record really did it to me.

This is one of our most colorful traditions held the Day of The Dead in November 30th at the town of Sumpango, 60 km west Guatemala City. They fly their kites as a way to get in touch with their deads and to scary the bad spirits, a similar show is also held in the near town of Santiago Sacatepequez. The bigger kites are only for show, they can't fly due to their large dimensions.

Since coffee can be prepared in several ways, is a matter of preferences wich way you like the most. For me coffee is a social drink, the one you share with the ones you care (or in complete solitude) with enough time to relax, so thinking this way you need plenty of coffee (not an ounce). French press coffee maker let you customize your coffee to please your taste and also gives a good show for a few dollars, that make it my favorite for my everyday spare time.
We are introducing a new blend formula for our P11 coffees. It features a more acidic touch typical of SHB washed coffee, an excellent body full of complex flavors from citrus to chocolate among others, a delicious aroma in a cup that you will want to share this season. We slightly darken our Café and Obscuro roasts achieving more strength for those who like this feature and -following our tradition- this blend is a complete new one. Enjoy it.
Following past adventures this one was through a more long and steeped way, 3 1/2 hours of pedaling, sights seen, technical and shooting stops. The outer rim of the Lake Coatepeque (El Salvador) offers nice vistas in a mostly paved route, also you can see the inner rim road, cafetales (coffee trees) and coffee storage buildings along the road since these volcanic mid highlands are good to cultivate coffee. Photo numbers are from top to bottom, see also Lake Coatepeque Inner Rim

In a recent trip to El Salvador, I visited the Maya archeological site of Casa Blanca situated in the city of Chalchuapa, 1 hour west of San Salvador by car. Actually this site is located into a coffee farm and its highest pyramid is 15m tall. In its heyday Casa Blanca exchanged goods with the Maya city of Kaminaljuyú 170km west, where now is Guatemala City. The site share a museum with a workshop of añil (Indogofera), the ancient colorant that help Mayas to paint their sacred clothes and walls with a deep indigo color.
...And still kicking.
