Same World Different Languages
Although I have been in contact with many people out there along all those years is now when I've realized better how different we are. Selling coffee through the net have been so gratifying because I have learned so much and met many wonderful people. Also I have noticed how people from other places are engaged with their weather patterns, a big thrill since I live in a country where we have almost the same spring time all year round, so in that direction I did not expect any change at all, but out there is a different story. Here sometimes our quality time is most important than performance time - read: Consumption Anecdote by Heinrich Böll, in other countries their national political issues are above their individual way of thinking, or in some others just the act of think out loud is forbidden. But the big achievement that I've got with this exercise is to learn to think in a more universal way, taking apart my own world and letting the outside stars light my path. Thank you readers and friends for help me to learn.

Pacaya Volcano
Pacaya is one of the more than 35 volcanoes spread throughout Guatemala highlands. An active, unpredictable volcano that recently dumped tons of volcanic sand on Guatemala City, 18 miles away! This volcano provides a constant show of ash clouds and lava flow. We were there yesterday and the experience was wonderful.

Roasting Coffee
Roasting coffee is a task that require skillful people, you have to give the exact time to coffee beans because if not you are risking to burn it. Not all coffees need the same roasting time and the way a coffee will be brew requires a specific roasting time as well. Here some photos of the process including grinding roasted coffee and storing roasted beans in sacks.

Guatemala Cup of Excellence 2009
Today's morning the Guatemala Cup of Excellence 2009 auction was held and farmers and coffee enthusiasts were at ANACAFE headquarters in Guatemala City watching through a large screen how the bids tried to seek new records. Unfortunately things were not as good as last year edition when the winner Finca El Injerto got an amazing $80.20/lb, this year they were also the leaders with a $22.04/lb. One of our coffee providers Finca El Socorro y Anexos got a fair $10/lb. Our congratulations for all the participants farmers!

From Play to Art
At 8 or 9 years old my mom bought me a couple of toy cameras, although I "took" many snapshots with them, those never saw the light (at least in the proper manner). Later when I was a teenager or so I used to "borrow" real cameras from friends to shot my essays, among them a Pentax K1000, Canon AE1, Minolta X370 and Nikon F. In 1987 I bought my first real camera, a Minolta Maxxum 5000, then I sold it and got a Canon Rebel, then a Nikon F70, F90, F100 and now a D300, at the same time play turned into work and then into art. Since I was a kid photography has been a semper fi dream and companion for me.
